Bagua Map Placement – A Snapshot View
by Heather Melcer
There are many tools that we use in Feng Shui to bring balance and harmony to our homes and lives, the Bagua Map is one of them. I’ll keep it brief and spare you lots of theory at the moment, but in a nutshell our home is divided into 9 different sections that correspond to 9 different areas of our lives. These are the general category titles as well as their corresponding colors and it looks like this (for now you can just focus on their literal, and somewhat obvious, meanings):
Feng Shui and the Curse of the Dollar Store
by Heather Melcer
I was doing a Feng Shui consultation follow-up for a close friend of mine. We walked through her apartment assessing all the changes I told her to make during our initial meeting. We were passing by the kitchen (which was the Relationship area of her home according to the Bagua Map) and she was pointing out a few things changes she made, as this was an area of growth she wanted to focus on. She had this big plastic platter with a pair of two flamingos on display in the corner, the most concentrated point of energy. (As a side note, pairs are good to have represented in some way in this part of the Bagua Map). And without missing a beat, she said in passing, “oh, those are just some cheap-o little things from the dollar store I just got”.

The Feng Shui Stimulus Plan
by Heather Melcer
I’m not usually one to jump on the buzz word bandwagon, however, I was sitting at a diner one evening recently and there was a little laminated advertising card in one of those metal holders in-between the salt and pepper shakers that read: “The Stimulus Breakfast Package.” It went on to describe the abundance of food you would receive for shelling out just one low, low price. I have to admit, first I chuckled at it, and then my mind was off and running. I started to think from a Feng Shui perspective what were the areas that needed the most attention right now, and how each one of us could create our own “stimulus” package.
